Trick or Treat Boo! Sticks

Doooo you dare attempt to make these fiddly, messy but super tasty treats?…or it is a trick?!

Okay, so I am not very good at all this scary lark, which is why I have creating this adorable little Boo! Sticks for Halloween. There are two different types of flavour that are on offer; maple syrup and cinnamon yoghurt, the trick, and white chocolate, the treat.

I have to admit, that the saying ‘trick or treat’ is a great one, because it does give you an element of surprise, so you have to put your faith the choice you make! Plus in baking terms (well you can hardly call this baking but we will roll with it) it means that you get a good balance of healthy and ‘indulgent’. Not that these are particularly indulgent either, though you get where I am coming from..don’t you?!

There isn’t a lot of ingredients at all, nor is the method very complicated so these little snacks can be made in no time. It is the freezing time that will have you tapping with your feet in anticipation to eat them.Β I must warn you, that they are fiddly and you may have to result to licking your fingers to get the mixture off them.

For the Treats!

Ingredients

  • 4 bananas
  • 1 large white chocolate bar
  • 2 tsp coconut oil
  • Handful Chocolate drops
  • 8 Lollipop sticks

Method

  • Start by melting the chocolate and coconut oil in a glass bowl. The way I chose to do it, was by placing the bowl in a sieve, over a sauce pan with water so that the chocolate didn’t burn. Make sure to stir whilst the mixture is melting, on a low heat hob.
  • Once your chocolate has fully melted, remove from the hob, but keep it over the hot water, so that you have more working time – trust me you will need it!
  • Next chop your bananas up into halves.
  • Coat the rest of each banana in the mixture.
  • Quickly add on the chocolate drops for eyes and mouth.
  • Place on greaseproof paper, and place in the fridge to harden for at least 10 minutes.

You will give me shock if you can make these without making a complete mess. My first attempt left me with white chocolate and yoghurt all over the surfaces – though this does happen most of the time when I bake!

Remember to let me know if you make these for Halloween, by using the hashtag #growingbutterflyΒ

Happy Halloween!
