Quinoa Pizza


Think you can’t enjoy a delicious pizza whilst maintaining a healthy lifestyle? Well, I have the answer to your prayers, which this amazingly simply Quinoa Pizza recipe.

Quinoa, pronounced ‘keen-noa’ is a complete protein meaning that contains all of the essential amino acids that our body requires keeping functioning properly, looking after our muscles and overall health. This is such a versatile ingredient, so much so that I am going to be creating a few more recipes with it.


This recipe is gluten-free, dairy free (if you swap your cheese options mind!) and vegan friendly too, so everyone can have a slice or four. The entire pizza is for one person which is incredibly if you have a big appetite like me, and also if you don’t like sharing!

Makes two 10 inch pizzas


  • 80g quinoa
  • 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp pink salt
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 50ml water
  • 1/2 tube of tomato puree
  • 1 tbsp mixed herbs
  • 1/2 red onion
  • 40g selected cheese
  • Fresh spinach and rocket
  • Extra toppings (optional)


  • Cook quinoa for 20 minutes on a medium heat for 20 minutes, until soft and you start to see the little white curls coming out of it.
  • Leave to cool down for around half an hour
  • Once quinoa is cooled, pre-heat oven to Gas Mark 5
  • Add quinoa to a food processor and add in oil, salt and baking powder and blend until fully combined. It should become a smooth batter
  • Prepare a baking tray with greaseproof paper and then spread quinoa mixture into a circle evenly.
  • Place in the oven and cook for 20-25 minutes, keeping an eye on it until is goes lightly golden and crispy.
  • In the mean time, prepare your toppings, chopping finely if needed.
  • Remove base from oven when it is cooked, and allow to cool for 5 minutes before adding tomato puree. Use the back of a spoon to spread.
  • Then place your toppings over and cook for another 25 minutes, until the base and toppings are cooked well.
  • Serve on a bed of fresh rocket and spinach and enjoy!



It is that easy to make your very own healthy pizza and the taste is unbelievably good! I think that the texture and flavour of this style of base, is very similar to the classic doughy bread, so you really don’t feel as though you are missing out.
